Scratch testers are increasingly used in QA departments to test different coatings on tools and other base materials. By introducing scratches in the surface area, the hardness and bond of the protective layer are determined. Highly precise diamond balls enable hundreds of such scratches to be made in consistently accurate shapes. In addition to the tapered and radius shapes derived from the Rockwell range, on request we can also produce different geometrical shapes appropriate for the planned application area. Since 1992, thanks to constant improvements in the manufacturing process of these tools, the minimum geometrical fluctuation widths have been achieved in the µm range. This is a crucial factor for obtaining constant measurements of the entire system. The scratch diamonds can also be repeatedly re-cut.
