Single stone dressing tools

Single stone dressing tools are especially used for dressing tasks with exacting demands as regards the perfect shape being attained and the finish quality of the grinding wheels.

For tools  for dressing completely straight surfaces, octahedron-shaped diamonds with several natural points are preferred.

Setting the angle of the dressing tool:

horizontal        vertical

The following rules should be observed when using these tools:

  • The diamond must be protected from impacts.
  • Briefly clamp in the dressing diamond and tighten it.
  • Sufficient coolant increases the service life of the diamond.
  • The advance feed is to be selected with a maxi-mum of 0.03 mm.
  • The diamond tool should be positioned at an angle of 5-15 degrees a little below the middle of the wheel.

A greater cost effectiveness is attained by regularly monitoring and re-setting the dressing diamond.
A perfect dressing function is only guaranteed if the diamond is not worn down too far.

The single stone dressing tool is the best  known diamond mode of application in the industry. The quality of finish and dimension accuracy of the material are dependent on the dressing diamond. The prerequisite for the optimal dressing  of a grinding wheel with the help of diamonds is matching the weight of the diamond to the size, width and hardness of the grinding wheel. The

The dressing tool takes care of two main functions:

  1. it removes abrasive grains, which have become blunt and metal particles
  2. it recreates the correct geometric shape of the grinding wheel.

SELECTION OF THE DIAMONDS

The size of the grinding wheel is the  base for the weight of the diamond in the dressing tool. In the adjacent table the allocations are listed individually. For very wide grinding wheels, we recommend using a diamond from the next higher weight class.
