UP stands for ULTRA PRECISION and indicates the main application area of this generation of dressing tools. The tools enable dressing processes in the high end sector of the grinding process. They are precision dressing tools manufactured absolutely identically, which enable the same dressing parameters over the entire tool life.

UP dressing tools are totally compatible with the conventional dressing tools currently available on the market and therefore can easily be exchanged for them. The exchange is possible directly on the dressing block in a few simple steps. The actual improvements are hidden away in the interior of these tools. Depending on the type of tool, 1 to 5 precisely laser-cut mono-crystalline synthetic diamonds (MCSDs) in the direction of the crystal can be found here. Tool life is increased by up to 5 times compared with normal dressing tools allowing work with only one layer of diamonds and eliminating the uncontrollable transition zones between the individual layers in the case of needle dressing tools. The use of MCSDs means the UP dressing tools are able to deliver identical dressing parameters from tool to tool. In addition, in narrow areas, they offer the same variable work surface RZ values and tool life. In this way, the requirements of using "programmable dressing tools” for sensitive CNC dressing processes are met, guaranteeing the continuous abrasion and effective width over the entire service life. UP dressing tools enable up to 50% higher dressing speeds. Thanks to their high resistance to wear, in CNC dressing reproducible dressing results of 0.003 mm can be attained.
